Richard + Caitlin, The Stables at Ravenswood Homestead Wedding

Some love stories begin with a swipe.

Some begin at work.

And some begin at 3am… in Edinburgh… after KFC.

Caitlin and Richard met at Hogmanay. A New Year’s Eve party in Edinburgh where their friends (who had only met the week before at Christmas in London, mind you) decided it would be a brilliant idea to reunite everyone for round two. After a night out and Richard turning up with KFC in hand, Caitlin wasn’t entirely convinced this was the great romance of her life just yet. Fair.

It took a couple of pub dates back in London to test the waters. Living abroad meant there wasn’t any rush or pressure. Just time spent together in between travel plans, new cities, and figuring out life on the other side of the world. Nearly a year later they made it official… and then the universe said “cute” and promptly dropped a global pandemic on everyone.

Five years later, after moving across the world and ticking off adventures through Europe, Australia and New Zealand together, here we are.

Their wedding day at The Stables was exactly what you’d expect from two people who’ve built their relationship on ease and genuine friendship. Classic. Relaxed. Thoughtful in all the right ways. White, green and soft pink florals styled beautifully by Tracey Adem gave the space that romantic softness without taking away from the rustic charm of the venue itself. The girls wore navy. The boys wore black. Timeless with just the right amount of country elegance woven through it all.

The morning preparations had that quiet kind of excitement to them. The girls getting ready together meant bursts of laughter, final touches of makeup, someone hunting for a missing earring at the last minute. Over with the boys, things were a little more laid back. Suits going on. A few nerves disguised as jokes. That moment where it suddenly hits that this is actually happening today.

Their ceremony was one of those ones where you could feel everyone leaning in a little closer. The kind that makes time stretch out for just a second while vows are read and hands are held tightly. No fuss. Just heartfelt and real.

Afterwards, drinks hour gave everyone the chance to exhale. Hugs were exchanged. Glasses clinked. Guests mingled out on the grounds while the newlyweds soaked in those just-married moments without being rushed straight into the next part of the day.

And then… the dancefloor.

Rustic venue. Fairy lights overhead. Good music. Even better company. The kind of dancefloor where shoes are kicked off early and nobody is checking the time because no one wants it to end.

From Edinburgh at Hogmanay to a wedding day surrounded by the people they love most on the other side of the world, Caitlin and Richard’s story has been a bit of an adventure from the very start. And judging by the way they looked at each other all day long, this next chapter might just be the best one yet.
